Intake and breathers aside - what is the rest of the landy like in water..??

All have breathers of one form or another.

As said Engine like water !!!! If you have a leak out then you can get a leak in. so find all those head and sump leaks and sort them out.

Copious amounts of WD40 or similar Water repellant electrical spray on everything and and vaseline too.

Main reason head lamps normaly go is cause they are either Glass and on at the time.

there is a breather on the tank -on my td5 it comes out on the passenger side rear wheel arch + has a non return valve in-line -i extended this into the breather manifold in my engine bay. was a little worried the vacuum action from the axles in cold water might pull fuel through but i havnt seen any sign of this so far

Also, the winterized/waterproofed wolf has a metal fuel filler hatch cover -its foam backed so sort of seals the recess off from the worst of any water -that gets that high-
(if you can get one on the open market as they are like rocking horse poo! -managed to get one for mine through work but cant remember the part number -would be really easy to make your own with a sheet of foam, rivet a hinge on a metal sheet + fit a D-zues fastener)

-i say sort of seals the recess as water could maybe still penetrate from the reverse side but i havnt had any issues.....

I can get the part number for the wolf waterproof cap through work but it just looks like a normal cap, no idea what the difference is. To order it into work would cost like 5 quid but to buy the same bit of kit from a website seems to cost three times that. Robbing barstewards

lol can you post pic wolf as not sure we on about the same part -the one i got is a full on flap!

This is all it shows and the drawing is probably for the bog standard cap. No idea what the difference is for a waterproofed one. But it certainly doesn't show what you describe.

Edited to add - if you stick the part no from that table into Google it'll come up

Yeah i see what you mean, but no its not what im talking about, though i wonder what the difference is between the 2 (or is it just the obvious hole in the top for a lock?)

im out in a min to pick up the long haired colonel so will take a pic of my 'flap'

my cap leaks through the lock, found that out laning with a full tank!! you also can't quite nip it fully down when locked, cos the locking tabs overshoot.
might get one of them for laning with...

I kind of inadvertently got one by the looks of it. I lost my old locking cap and had to get one from work and it seems to be one of the waterproof ones so win for me
