One option is to use a registered trade plater to get it to the port/point of departure from UK............but then what?

The cost would be more than what was paid for the vehicle.

Certainly the trailer option would be secure, but it`s not that kind of adventure, if you know what I mean...
Yes, I could use the temorary german signs and I am sure no one would recognize that, but what is, if there is an seious accident? That is my problem. And I am sure there must be a legal and save way to buy a car in UK and drive it hom, or?
However, if there is no possibilty, I will come with a roadtrailer.

First point is the vehicle you have purchased is right hand drive, which on german plates on a british motorway would catch the attention of the most short sighted traffic cop.
If you chose to drive anyway, how would you get on driving on wrong side of road, left hand gearchange in a vehicle that possibly is not in the greatest of condition. MOT was valid at the time the inspection took place, who knows what has been done by owner since, or stopped working.
Trailer would still be an adventure as your heading to Glasgow:) .

gramor,

yes I´m very desperate in a series vehicle, I think they have another emotional value here, for you it may be something like a GOLF II or something like that... All my friends are thinking I must be a freak. I would say afficionado.
I´ve droven a defender 90 than a defender 110 for years, actually I´m driving a discovery 3. But just for fun I want to drive a series. I like those old landies. In Germany you have to spend much more money, you won`t find a series in good state for under 4000,-Euro...
And it is fun and adventure to buy it in UK. It`a little like gambling:D

Hi,

thank you all for your replies.

I made the decision for the trailer. It seems that there is no legal and secure possibility to drive with the car to germany and so I will go the boring but save way...

On Saturday the 1st I will be on my way from Folkstone to Glasgow an back. Maybe someone of you will see me on the motorway, flash your lights!

Regards

Tobias

If you had bought a lightweight instead you could have airlifted it over to Germany!
