Insurance company recommendations?

Hi all,

I've been with Adrian Flux for about 4 years and they've basically just helped themselves to the renewal fee via direct debit every year. But this time I had a query concerning the renewal so I rang them (always engaged) and emailed them (no reply) to try to get some clarification on how to proceed so no joy there. I'm just wondering if it's the same story if it comes to making a claim which would really turn a drama into a crisis for sure.
Can anyone recommend an alternative insurer they've had good service from (and not just when paying the premiums)? I don't mind paying extra if I an actually get through to someone when I need to! Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry Jamie but that's not really good enough, is it? What a funny way to run a business! What are people who don't even know of this forum supposed to do? Looking through previous reams of postings I see a clear pattern emerging which shows that other people have had the same problems I've had and don't get any action until they complain about it here whereupon you step in with a damage limitation exercise. It happens over and over and over again. Why don't you just have more people to answer the phones?? Or the emails?? I give up!

OK, got it sorted out now through a local non-specialist insurance broker. Only cost a few quid more and there's now no annual mileage limit to worry about. So much nicer to just get straight through to a human being without being kept on hold indefinitely.
So my advice is, don't overlook your local general household/motor insurance broker when shopping around for quotes - you can't beat that local service!

Just curious what you mean by local? I never see car insurance advertised other than the big brands and the slightly smaller ones that are just a division of the big ones!

Hi Landlover, who did you use? I'm with Adrian flux and had someone with an attitude problem when I called up about my renewal. Also they charged me personal insurance even though I pay seperatley for this and would never have agreed. Apparently it's my fault and they are going to charge me £15 to send me the trasncript even though they will review the tapes themselves.
