I've got some bell wire from a speaker somewhere with a scotch block on the end.

When I removed the old ass cassette thing in mine it had a bloody blondie tape in it!
 
Currently building myself a 'shelf' for the back that will sit on the plastic trim then attached to the roll cage.

Will have x2 8" Infinity Reference speakers mounted on either side.

Also has a little shelf for a tool kit, but has space for an amp if needed.

All covered in 3mm closed cell foam to reduce reverb and increase sound quality then all nicely finished in black carpet!

Should have it finished by tomorrow will get pics up!
 
Picking up of of these tomorrow, currently putting a few soundproof panels in the back of the Defender. My Kenwood stereo has been acting daft for too long now, every time I go anywhere near the volume it resets, but that's going to change soon :D

Not the absolute best job ever but does the trick, stays in nice and solid through friction but further secured onto the rollcage using some Jubillee Clips.

Accidently built it with a nice shelf in between speakers, the perfect size for a Halfords Full Socket set :D or an amp in the future. Also got a super bright LED work light fitted as the Land Rover one got ripped out...

Whole thing is made of Ply & MDF covered in 3mm closed cell foam, then carpeted and stapled in place solidly :) No reverb, or rattles, actually adds to the sound deadening of the car which is nice.

That looks great mate, picked up my Alpine stereo earlier but the weather was ****e so didn't want to try to fit it.

I'm made a couple of panels for the rear light boxes and behind the rear windows, I'm going to make panels to go all around the rear windows. I am also planning on either buying a roof lining or making some sort of panel to go on the roof, might be a struggle :D :rolleyes:

My rear lining sagged into oblivion. Built up a new one using sticky foam and carpet, cost all of £40 and looks decent!

I used 3mm but id suggest 6mm closed cell (the open stuff retains water = rust), its not to hard just time consuming.

Can give you some pointers if you decide to do your own.

Cheers, not as happy with the panel behind the window, but chuffed with how the light panels look.
Funnily enough I was just looking at this stuff, 2000mm x 1500mm x 5mm should do the trick.
Sounds great mate, have you got any pictures on how you went about making your headlining? I thought that was a standard one tbf :D

Yeah but all easily cleaned up! Yeah they do look good!

I used this guy self adhesive closed cell foam sheets, sound proofing size 1mtr x 350mm x 3mm | eBay

Does it in all various thicknesses. Using some 10mm to fill in my doors!

Its all self adhesive so much easier to apply and cheaper too. Really plyable and easy to work with.

They way I did it wasnt the best but came up with better ways as I went along.

Best way I found is -

Measure and cut the foam into 3 strips - width wise - If you see what I mean?

Then cut the carpet to the same size but a tiny bit over (about 2mm or so) use heavy duty spray glue to attach the carpet to the foam.

Then you should have 3 strips of foam/carpet, stick it up on the roof, lining up all the foam edge to edge and push the little extra in between the foam.

Took me a few hours to get it all done. Worked pretty well, cheap too.
 
Thanks mate, will buy some of that foam at the end of the month and see how it goes, can't really be arsed taking the roof off, I'm sure it will go in fine with the roof on... :bolt: :D

Spent most of Yesterday fitting my new Alpine headunit :) Chuffed with how it turned out.

Also made a stainless steel bracket to support the headunit from my Raptor Dash :D

Good stuff, for some reason Raptor supplied me with a tidy bracket to hold the CB, but when I got my dashboard the company had pretty much just started (The first review on the website is mine :D) There was no bracket to support the stereo, supporting a £280 stereo is a bit more important than supporting a £50 CB radio :p I suppose without the bracket though, the CB would have no means of staying in one place
 
Head unit not sure what make n pair of speakers but it doesn't work properly so use my iPhone with earphones in! Usually only put one in though so I can hear what's the landy's up to, n if she's rattling louder than normal I put both in lol
 
Personally i think its dangerous driving with headphones in. Get some battery powered speakers. What im using until i fit all my ****.

Had to make up my own bracket from a sheet of ali for my CB mount!

As stated I usually only have one ear in unless the noise gets too loud in the landy, it's no different to people who have their ice up full! I do have eyes in my head n use my mirrors all the time so can see what's coming up behind me etc :p what's more dangerous is catching the wire when turning n pulling iPhone out of the holder! So tend not to use em that often! Lol
 
A lot of opening and shutting of the back door consequently ruined my sub box. So I rebuilt it today. Made a proper job. Did it a bit smaller and the sub actually sounds much better with the bottom piece left off allowing the air to move freely.

Painted Matt black instead of carpet. Will buy a black chequer plate door card in the near future and fit it to that.
