what do you do when you need to change a rear light though? easiest way in is to pull the jerry seat out a bit

2 minutes to access the bulb.

Drill driver to remove 8 speaker screws. Lift speaker out on extra long wire. Slacken two bolts that fit into old dickie seat mounts then hinge the cover forward. :D:D

After that it's the 20 minute right royal PITA to get at the bulb just like a standard Disco.:mad:

Full Alpine system, flip out head unit with navigation, Ipod connectivity, 6 disc changer all hitched up to the standard LR 8 speaker system, but will be changing that for a selection of Genesis speakers when I can afford them. All remote buttons on instrument cowl work. It sounds OK, well it drowns out the tuneless singing!!:clap2::clap2::eek:

AWP, youve given me some very good ideas to upgrade my speakers, are those 6x9s in your rear pillar? how did you find fitting them and is it fairly straight forward with a bit of cutting and swearing?

the front door is a good idae too, is a second 4" speaker the biggest that would fit?

i like my music and im not keen on how it is now, drives me nuts as my last car had a good system and i enjoyed that a lot!

Happy to inspire.

Yes they are 6x9s. Fitting was reasonably easy. Had to trim the mounting bracket and give the inner pillar a bit of a bash to accomodate the magnets.

The door had the carpet trim fitted at the bottom when I got it - it covered over the hole where some Japanese guy had fitted speakers in the same place. I seem to remember trying the 6x9 but it would have needed major surgery. Likewise the upper speakers.

These pump out some good music and decent base - cost about £500 ish for a new iPod compatible head unit (30gb iPod in cubby - used constantly), heavily discounted speakers for front door, ebay for used amp an new subs, lots of cable, MDF and speaker box cloth.

:D:D:D

Speakers installed. Very simple. Plenty hammers to hand for massaging the metalwork.

Box for sub built too. Should screw onto the door nicely wit some self tappers. Few more screws to hold it together and hole to cut for the amp. Pleased with the result. Some of the cutting has come out a bit off but goes together so doesn't bother me. Will cover in felt once built!

I have a fusion stereo and a pair of vibe 6x9 in the back and two vibe 6 inch door speakers just above and behind my head. Check out my photos in my custom headling album
