i am in need of some serious help. my discovery made in 1995, it has a two botton fob which switches the alarm off. This broke over the christmas while i was out with my family. we were stranded i called the nearest garage which happened to be a 4x4 garage. he explained that i would not be going anywhere without a key fob. He manage to get it goin though by putting a positive feed to the fuel solenoid and the stater. i have been using it like this since, realizing that i might be damaging it i thought it best to get her fixed. i took her to my local landrover garage an they have told me that the alarm ecu is gubberd. they told me that it would cost 560 pound to fix. i jst ran. i have heard all sorts of things about the alarm ecu since like, no one can fix it but landrover, you can bypass the spider, im just wondering is there anything i can do i personally do not think the ecu is broke because the alarm still operates, the hazards still work and the cenreal lcking still works with the key. i can still het her running but i have to lift the bonnet everytime. its a pain . please can anyone help me.

Hey Mate, Unfortunately the garage man was right... the alarm is gubbered...

You can run permanent feeds from the ignition to the fuel and starter motor, thus bypassing the immobiliser.

There are several guides on here to solve your problem.

the people at the landrover garage said it was nacard. i cant get the ecu into learn mode. would not having the proper cables in (because of the hotwire) affect this.

For the user me and u there's no such thing as learn mode. All u can do is re-sinc the fob to the ecu if the batter has been replaced or the vehicle battery has been disconnected and then re-connected. Learn mode is entered via a programmer when the items are new to enable the items to be coded so they can communicate.
Ok what ever 'hot wiring' was don may have distroyed the ecu but u say it still functions with the alarm etc, can u set your alarm or lock/unlock with your fob ie. does your fob still work.

And I forgot to say :welcome2: to the Forum.

Hi had same sort of problem, remote got wet in wales tried using key to get in and found the alarm and immobiliser worked perefect so got R A C out and he removed a fuse from under the steering wheel worked perfectly and of I went...300Tdi hope this helps...Tony

Ok, so now if your new fob is second hand it will require programming with the data to communicate with the alarm ecu which anyone with the 'testbook' or similar can do, ie an independant LR garage of even a main dealer but they are expensive.
