How do I remove the surround from the automatic transmission on a D1 300tdi?
I want to get to the green strip to remove it as it looks **** due to age and heat from the bulbs.
I can only find online guides for d2 and above or manuals.

the surround should be clipped in, that's all shown in the workshop manual

Cheers. I just want to remove the green off it to be hones and nor replace it
looking to get it so it shines clear / white and not green

where are the screws located as i couldnt see any

one at each corner ,youd have to pull the consol off first,

LEDs are viewed 'head on' for the best possible light, therefore placing the LED horizontal in the auto selector there will be be light but it will be dim therefore better to use the standard bulb, but you and always find that out but not with the LED bulbs in the link, and they are Canbus the base will not fit your existing build connector.

You auto selector decal is a strange one for the 300 series, no alpha/numerical shown i.e. P to 1 as my pic.

The letters / numbers have worn off but that will be sorted before the weekend is over

His is very faint but you can just make out the letters and numbers but the P N R are very bright but it could be the lens?

The plastic sticker with the numbers and letters on is no longer there on the one side of the selector.
I'm making some new ones up so hopefully it'll look am again.
Also pinching some of my daughter's nail varnish remover to get rid of the left over glue residue and clean it all up a bit

So what's happen I wonder, as with mine it's all still very legible 20 years on, not that I ever look at them now... :) A bit different from the 200 series or the early RRc which has a plastic blind built into the selector, that does wear because that moves with the selected position so had to be replaced seven years into its life.

Just not looked after on the interior at all. I'm eventually going to have to replace the front seats, get the carpet valeted and replace a fair few bits of plastic and bulbs

Old guy that owned it couldn't cope with the maintenance himself
