so my rangie has it in for me I’m sure.
Long story short.
I raise to off road height to crawl underneath to change the knackered aircon belt tensioner pulley, 15 minuted into the job I hear a loud bang followed by a hiss of air flying out of the n/s/f air spring,
Bastard cars are trying to finish me off I swear,
I’m still kicking despite the stress they cause through various issues, now they’re trying the more direct approach.
In all seriousness though, axle stands are piled up in my garage for a reason,
Never trust airbags, to hold the car up when your crawling around underneath

I think that might just earn it a nomination for "Christine" award of the year. :) In the Darwinism category, I think you may also be nominated.;):D

when i had my new tyres fitted i pulled the compressors fuse before they jacked it up, after they were done they lowered it and then the guy was just using a torque wrench and his mate put the fuse back in, before i could say anything the disco went straight down onto its bump stops

think the guy had to change his undercarriage

Cars are female. Never trust the gender....ever.

Stand by !!!!!

Hmmmm. I think sometimes a quiet smile is all that is needed. It disconcerts the natives. :)

oh christ , i’m outta here and i’m not the one in trouble, YET , ;):D

( will keep quiet and eat my popcorn, knowone will notice )

@goldrover I am so sorry. Very un-gallant of me.
Please let me rephrase that........
Cars are female....... and some of them cannot be trusted.
We all good now? ;)

I shall put my spade away now, before I get buried with it. :D

Watching that video makes me happy I bought the whole assembly and not just the airbag,
I like that at the end he says he just needs to buy the shock as he can now take it apart, I’d like to see the video where he try’s that without the use of a grinder

me too, also bought the complete strut as i didn’t want to mess around , when i changed the drivers side could feel the difference , there at least 10 x years old and done very well

was just waiting for that strut to shoot across his garage , lol

here’s the other video he done with the height

Darn now I have to put the rope away , and I spent hours practising knots. Bah! :( ;)

@youmitegetian , taking about air struts

was waiting for it to shoot across the garage like a missile ,

I'd be interested in how long the whole process took him, in real time. Then compare the cost, per man hour, to take that one apart , to take another one apart, then fit the new airbag to the strut , and finally see how much money he has actually saved against buying the whole assembly.

ur not wrong there , seeing the inner strut is also the same age it just makes so much sense to buy the strut complete , seeing it also has those seals

indeed when i first realised i needed new front struts and after reading up it was soooooo much easier to just buy the complete item

not worth keeping the old ones, still they’ve done well and lasted at least 10 x years

cost wise for genuine , fronts £150 each rears £170 each , inc vat so in fairness i thought that wasn’t bad , considering the work they have to do

got the front ARB bushes and drop links to replace , just been reading and didn’t realise the ARB is a hydraulic one for the DSC , something else i’ve learnt today

now got the front jacked up and on axle stands, just waiting for a break in the weather
