Hi all
Looking for some advice on in car entertainment..
After posting the question of can i replace all my stereo with my Dads Harmon Kardon system. The replies i got back (Many Thanks) were stating that its so much work involved, changing looms and amps etc..Ive decided on a different proposition?
Have read as much as i can,I have the Standard Clarion with 6 CD in boot.Which i find is a fantastic unit. But have read about positive speaker outputs etc?
What im asking is can i just extend the wires from the rear door speakers(only have Bass speakers fitted) and connect them to an Amp and Bass speaker in boot? Or does the + speaker thing stop me?
Also,i have an aerial socket (used) on my head unit and another exact looking socket above,is this for an additional aerial?
Many Thanks for any advise Tel

if you fit an amp & sub you will have to use the low outputs on the back of the head unit you use, you do not use the speaker wires from your door or if you wish you can get a unit that goes in-line with the high outputs and converts to low outputs for an amp.
what kind of head unit are you using?

Cheers rangie!
Was hopein to get away with the standard Clarion one?(6 cd in boot) as its got the stick on wood etc..Not looking for mega noise,,just Dads sounds sooo much better.

Tel,

I suspect that the Clarion head unit uses two aerial feeds (one from each rear side window), although my local car audio shop could not confirm this.

I was looking at upgrading my complete system, but gave up due to the work you mention in compete wiring change-out etc.

I shouldnt think it would use 2 ariels, i`ve never heard of this as for upgrading, aftermarket options are still your best bet and not very hard to do unless you want to use oem stuff.
