Hubs, front, need one?

So my front wheel bearing had play, tapered type, I pulled it apart and the inner bearing race could rotate in the hub by hand, changed the bearing over and the new race did the same, no real side to side play, but it rotates freely.

so, I need a hub I guess, unknown axles, all I know is RRC, what do I need to know about hubs?

Different kinds?
 
new hub is the proper solution but you may get away with using a bearing retainer as made by loctite, similar to threadlocker. The green stuff
 
Id rather put a new one on there, but I need to know if there are variations on front hubs pre TD5. I cant see there being any differences but I thought I'd ask.
 
Do you know what the difference is? I know the drive members are different, the bearings should be the same, seal should be the same? Brake disc should change over?

bearings are the same ,thin drive member hubs are shorter than thick drive member hubs,some seals do vary in early hubs any pics
 
I will go and grab a photo, I think its the thick drive member, rears are thin types, splines shouldn't make a difference?

Its got a bush in the top, something I did notice though, on reassembly, you tighten the bearing until you feel drag right? Then let it off slightly, no matter how tight I didn't feel drag, I thought this might be down to the bearing race rotating but Im not so sure now!
Ill go and whip the wheel off.
 
Just to add, the stub axle takes tab washers that slide into a recess and not the half moon type.
 
Thats what Im thinking, the difference from what I can make out is the bearing spacing inside the hub, but I dont know if FRC6139 is the narrow or wider spacing, Im dubious because I cant get drag on the bearing and that could be due to the bearing spacing within the hub, but surely I would also feel play if the hub nut wasn't getting tight enough?
So it could just be the bearing race turning.

its early hub with thick drive member to go with longer stub axle and cv

Cool, so a later hub cannot be fitted, even wrongly, the axle isnt original to the vehicle you see so I have no real history on it or any bodge jobs that may have been dont to it in the past..
