How much is a new ignition switch?

eve folks,

whats the price on a new ignition switch including the steering lock bit and clamp? my 90 has just come out my indi. and i got charged a wopping £180 for the switch! and then some for labour. i can understand the labour cos it was time consuming what i asked him to do. but the switch?

let me know your thoughts.

one fer a series 111, combined ign switch/steering lock is about 55-65 quid

yer thats what i thought. its for my early 90 and i cant find anythong over £70 on the net. anyone else paid a **** load for an ignition switch and gubbings?

yer i seen that too. has some kinda shift interlock thingy... whatever that is. i cant see wht my n/a 90 would need one at £160. ow yer got my labour and parts mixed up. its 160 for the switch. unless i got a petrol one :S

I replaced mine in Febuary, and if memory serves it ran me £42.

the actual switch on the back of the igntion barrel is bout £12 but dont thinking ur asking that are u...

yer i know they are cheaper. i would have thought thats what he changed. but he said the clamp and bits to. but ive seen the steering lock, with switch on the back and clamp for no more than about £70. not sure what the stealer charge but he said that it wasnt a genuine LR part otherwise that "would have been more expensive". which i think is bollox!

looks like im going to have to pay christian autos a visit sat morn so i will ask while im there. im sure thats where the part originated from if it wasnt in stock with him.
