Hi Having just had the same issues on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop where not many older programs run I have downloaded and installed "virtual machine software". This virtual machine allows you to run a full copy of xp within windows 7. There is a full explanation on the web how to install Vm ware which is free. When you have got this up and running you can then run a full copy of XP and older programs on you machine. I have the latest vesion of Microcat running well over the weekend.

Windows 7 is good but lots of older programs will not run on windows 7 64 bit. They will not even run in the compatability program either. If you can run XP within windows 7 64 bit you can then use all your old programs on your new computer. I only use this mode to run older programs with compatabilty problems such as Mircocat.

Yep agree time to go find a bar that's open i think.:D:D:D

Fat lot of good that did Wammers.....Found a bar with a very nice barmaid. Had a few :beer2::beer2:and when I asked her about Microcat she replied "Are you insinuating I have a small pussy??" Picked myself up from the floor after the smack in the mouth and got out quick.

Windows 7 (Vista) has prettier icons than XP, is much slower than XP, it doesn't like to talk to XP systems on a home network, has lots of infuriating and unneccessary messages, etc etc.
The IT professor from one of the top universities described 7 on television as being very like Vista, unreliable and that the uni would not be using it. It worth adding that if you buy a computer with Vista or 7 professional, it come with an XP pro downgrade as Microsoft put it to allow work with other systems on a network.
