How do I safely remove the steering wheel on my 110?

I want to take the steering wheel off my 110 as I need to change a bulb behind the speedo.

How do you remove the steering wheel without the airbag deploying?

It's a 98 300tdi Van

I wasn't aware of defenders having airbags? I thought that was one of the issues with the current design and hence the requirement for the dc100.

If it in fact doesn't have airbags, simply prise the land rover logo From the middle of the wheel and then loosen the bolt (don't remove) wiggle the wheel side to side until loose and then remove bolt and wheel with ease.

These forums are clogged wuth the same doozies askin tthe same stupid questions.

Maybe the IQ of your average Defender owner really is that low?

I jest off course, slightly odd sense of humour.

Anyway hello all

It was a bit obvious though, two things that have never existed on a Defender, airbag and bulb behind the speedo.

Tis easy, it doesn't have an airbag :doh::dnfnoob:

Oh, and btw, you don't need to remove the steering wheel to change the buld anyway.

Yeah, I managed to replace my bulb without removing the wheel. Bit of a tight squeeze, but dooable. Does anybody know how to remove the speedo cable, I can't seem to budge it out.

Just pull hard. May be easier to undo speedo brackets to allow a better grip of speedo
