cheers for the further replies cheers, has anyone got a pic of the breather at the rear of the motor that you say might be blocked ?
i tried looking around for a breather first before laying under it but i couldn't see one.
never tried diff lock to see if the light on the dash works but it passed the mot last week so i guess the reversing light works.
i really must check these things .... !

there is an oil feed pipe from the block to the head at the back. check the banjo bolts are not leaking or the braised joints are not cracked.

What engine you got?
If its the 2.5TD - may be worth removing the pipe from the oil filler to the air filter box to check it is not blocked as well, as this will cause a build up in crank case pressure, and blow oil out of the other breathers.
