If its not too muddy and everyone else is on AT tyres il put them on, better on themitorway then, the hummmmm of the MUDs nearly sends me to sleep!

I have bfg muds but you should be fine with ATs on if not there are plenty of us to get you through.Sue is getting a dab hand with the recovery now :D:D
 
Are most of the vehicles defenders going on this trip? I have not long bought my disco 2, I do love it but regret not getting a 90, if you guys have got 90's what are they like to spend a weekend driving in?

Between these four walls, I'm having a look at a 2001 td5 90 on Thursday, don't tell the mrs!!!

Usually there is a mix, on this trip there will be you and Gdhaydock (Zip) with Discos.

The Discos are much more comfortable to use than the Defenders. They also go everywhere the Defenders do. Zip leads most of our trips in the Disco. Only issue I have seen is they are wider so it sometimes takes them a bit longer to get round really tight corners.

Thats said I love my Defender, I dont care that its uncomfortable, cold and leaky :D:D I believe they can be a bit short of room and some folk have to drive them with the window open to put their arms out :D:D:D But Sarah and I dont have that problem so I cant comment. You also find it harder to hear the radio CB as they aren't exactly quiet :D
 
Yep I would agree with Sue the other thing with discos is the front and rear overhang is a lot bigger and there is more glass to smash:D but apart from that they are nearly as capable as a 90. As for comfort Disco all the way but in saying that I have a VW Tuareg with all the toys on and I drive my Defender most of the time cos I love it :D:D.

Td5 Defenders are a nice drive. On some of our longer trips I've spent 12 hours behind the wheel and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not going to be as plush as your Disco & it's going to be a bit noisier, but not intrusively so. While they're never going to be a sports car, they're pretty nippy and will happily cruise at 80+ all day long even without a remap. Cab can be a little cramped compared to a Disco, but you'll soon adapt. Disco's are nice to drive, Defenders are fun to drive. :)
 
My defenders not uncomfortable at all...a bit loud, cold, draughty and leaky but its all part of the fun :D

And td5landy PM sent! Just be aware you may catch the front and rear of the disco due to the overhang but we can spot for you if there are any tricky bits!
 
Somebody recommend me a cb radio, there's bloody loads on the net.

Just want a simple kit to put in my disco.

I've booked a day off work, which is really lazy as I finish at 12 anyway :D

I might set off early, not bothered about a time though

PMSL, if you knew me that list would take all night to type.

Probably easier to say I dont have a spare engine or gearbox :D:D

Some people carry almost a spare Landy, other take nothing. We do like front and rear recovery points and a rope and shackles are useful, just in case.

Breakdown cover once you get to tarmac is also recommended

And a bucket and spade is mandatory for this trip :D:D
 
And I have just acquired more spares :D:D:D

Need a major sort out of the classification system though. People keep wanting to borrow stuff and messing everything up :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Recovery points
10m kinetic rope
Strops

Bits box:
Gaffer tape
Hose clips
Tools
WD40

Where we meeting, what time? I need to know how long to allow to get there etc.
