As has been said, it's worth what someone will pay for it. Personally I think you've taken a good looking motor and made it ugly, and that's without even seeing a picture.

Hi i wanst trying to be sneaky, i built it as i have always want a hobby which involed a strip and rebuild of a car, a friend of mine has always had land rovers and sugested i brought one to do up which is what i did, i have really enjoy spending the time and effort on it , every hour spent in the rain and the snow !!! was worth it it is a pleasure to own and drive i really couldnt sell it now.
I really only ask as i had no idea what it could be worth and was interested to know

Galvanising your own chassis would be fine in their eyes. I really think you could get away with saying that a marshlands or a richards is a direct replacement anyway.....

In all honesty my chassis has been patched so much and had various outriggers dumb iron rear cross etc welded on that there may not be much of the original chassis left!

for insurance if you are going for agreed value you nee dto be careful as well. If you tell your insurance company its a modified 1968 series, take your pics, declare it as 2ks worth of vehicle or whatever, they will probably accept it..... that is until you have a crash or it gets nicked and recovered and an inspector gets sent out. Any excuse to wheedle out of paying you money. i'd be interested to know which insurance company accepted these mods you have completed an MVR right?
 
I havent got a agreed value done on it and to be honest i wasnt going to get one done
I have declared the engine and the 90 front end, wheel/ Tyres that all because in my opinion thats all i have changed.

All the other parts as new but orginal land rover parts

Does this sound ok ?

P.s What is a MVR ?

The parts need to be original SERIES parts from a DVLA point of view. That may not be the same for your insurance company though. MVR is a modified vehicle report. Used to record accurately the modifications you have done to a vehicle, or someone else befor eyou has done so the insurance company knows what they are insuring but also so you get your money in the event of a dispute.

My MVR for a different land rover (V6 specifies)

3.0 litre V6 ford essex engine with steve parker conversion including steve parker gearbox adaptor and steve parker exhaust
Relocated battery
Oil cooler
Electric fan
replacement wheels (8 spoke) and tyres (with whatever size they are)

And lets be honest thats not much of a change really (apart from the speed :) and fuel consumption :( )
 
there be 2 bonnets on the landy described in the first post....

but putting a price on something you spent ages working on and modified alot is pretty difficult, i'd offer you a grand and haggle from there.....
i've been and done the offering more than expected before, when the seller snaps up your first offer and offers you a lift to the cash machine you know you could have probably started lower!! :eek:


btw will my newly completed series 2 rebuild retain its tax freeness???
i used a couple of bits from a toyota bit i feel it still retains all the charm and character of the series motors....
