Hi new on here and have had many landys. Dont shoot me down in flames as i have a g wagon

Hi
As above I have had landys but for what I need and what I want to fit in the vehicle a g wagon is now my choice
Not cheap even for an old knacker
Ive been through it and though its not like I want 100% its close after many hours of work
I know you might not care but I have fitted a turbo diesel om 606 merc engine that's all running electronic engine
I did this for a landy too but its a lot of work
There it is and my choice too
Am I welcome or not on the site
Many people want merc engines etc so I could help with info
All the info I need is good green lane routes eg
The bastard lane start and finish points
If any people wish to ask about Mercedes engine conversions just fire away
I suppose you are 20 and 300 tdi engines in the blood though
I just like the site and people seem decent with excellent videoes
Yes I have done landy time for years but now its a change

Not eveyone on the forum has a Land Rover.
Some of those are American.
Some of those Americans are (word I can't say on this bit of the forum).
No reason why you shouldn't be welcome!

There certainly are, but you'll soon learn to ignore them.
Anyone with 30 years of Landy experience could be useful.

I'm pretty poor with forum and pc skills but thanks to people who helped with kind comments
I'm good at other stuff though. engineering and mechanical skills are second nature
I do own a different vehicle and I have done my landy time. I just needed a change so I chose a
bad choice g wagon
Not really bad but I wanted it mechanically perfect. I was happy at the deal but g wagon parts
are not easy to come by and are expensive
Enough of that. I chose a g wagon just for a change
I have done landys for years and Toyotas and also a Nissan too and also a Daihatsu
What we all must remember is all have major good points
I have my views but unless anyone wants me to post it I will remain silent
My view is a standard landrover 90 is a very good vehicle off road
Up grades to what you wish
All parts available cheap
Enough said
If you want me to post all info from my experience I will but it might be a long story
Please advise

Welcome. I don't have a land rover either anymore, but have a rover v8. My current 4x4 is a 2.7 v6 Santa fe

Hi gazbusa in reply to my post it was suggested that you might be able to help...I have an early 110 with Mada3.5 SL fitted to what I think is a Mecedes ZF ( 4 speed) auto. I.m trying to find out how to identify exactly which gearbox it is... ie. where to find identification numbers or something as I would like to replace the Mazda with a Mercedes engine and don't know what will fit to the gearbox.... considering OM606 but would like to know what the options are. thanks Mark

The numbers on the box will be on a plate or stamped onto the housing, usually above sump pan
It will be 6 or more digits depending how old box is
It is an easy swap and I love mercs as many parts interchange with the same stud pattern
Have a study
You are lucky if doing an om606 as they were all auto in turbo form and very few manual na engines also
Ask away if you need
