hi,p38 gems 4.6 1996 wont start,i have petrol in rail under pressure,have spark,fuel not going through injectors, i have a syncmate and a nanocom, it says mobilised yes,new fuel cut off switch,new plugs ,new coil,new fuel pressure regulator,new ht leads,new filter,and petrol pump. nanocom says cyl 1 short on injector wiring ,would this cause it not to start,thanks

I think you would need to rule that out first. If it stops it running I don’t know. These things have all sorts of ref points if it doesn’t know #1 has fired it may not fire the rest ( thinking out loud)

Had a problem getting my 96 started recently, I had everything except fuel pressure. I gave it a squirt of easy start and it ran so I knew everything else was good, for me I now need a new pump. (And whatever comes next)
You sound like you have everything, but you also have a fault. Give it a little squirt and see

Double check your HT leads in order, might sound silly but

Did you change everything because it was not running ,..Or did it stop running after you changed things.,Id check ht leads again ,if its popping

..also crank sensor is working ....

If it's cranking over then it's not the immobiliser.

Check the crank sensor for damage & signal.

I have seen this before, many times, & a few of them was down to the becm.

Can you tell me the numbers on the sticker on the becm, It's probably a AMR & possibly under 6000. There is also a V. number. Can you pass that as well.

thanks DUBBLE RR,and RICK, rick you did my becm last year ,will dig out paper work and let you know,tommorrow hopefully,and find numbers,thanks. i changed everything because it would not run DUBBLERR ,did head gaskets ,still not run, then i had engine reconditioned, had broken piston rings ,they could not start it either,i have had three crank sensor s tried ,will make sure it is working tommorrow, hopefully,

Sort out the known faults first. Injector loom does sound plausible. The wires are thin and get brittle with the age and heat.
