new to this forum. I run an organic, self sufficient small holding near Crediton in Devon. Landy life began in 1990 with an ex-Remy series 2a, been through a big, shiny Disco TDV6 that we couldn't ford to maintain and now looking for something older that will happily run on bio-diesel that my mate, Julian, and I make; probably a series 2 disco as my bones are getting older and my lovely missus is arthritic and needs a bit less of a bone shaker.

Regarding the D2 TD5, Have a look at the link below, it has a bit regarding what to look for on a D2 .
Ref the Bio dieasel, I may be wrong, But I thought I remember somebody saying the TD5 did not like it........But please double check.

I'll have a read. The bio we make is really good stuff - we don't just chuck raw oil in the tank and have to install pre-heaters etc. It's all done in a reactor using proper ingredients - it is allowed to settle out before use.

I've run my battered old combi van on it for about a year without trouble and my mate Julian has run his D2 for years on it. Yeah, sure we have to keep a spare filter on board but then the benefits ( mostly cheap motoring ) far outweigh any inconvenience.

Incidentally the TDV6 I owned hated the stuff, in fact...far too many sensors and common rails hate bio. Learned that at my peril. Give me an old series 2a any day.

Best of luck with the smallholding! You will need it! And best of luck with the Westcountry climate as well!

At current fuel prices, you will need to have a very cheap source of oil, do a lot of miles, and have very cheap time/labour, if bio is going to stack up economically.
And you need to be very careful with quality, Td5s are hard on their fuel.
But best of luck with that too. Lot of info on the forum about bio, forum search is good!
