Hey I'm new to forums, so hope I have landed my question in the right place.

Ok so I'm new and have a massive job to undertake on my series 2a. I am putting a 2.5 300tdi engine in it. (I understand that the 2.5 is harder to fit then the 2ltr however the 2.5 will last longer and is superior to the smaller 2ltr.) I have brought the engine but no local garages will do the job! (Claiming they don't know how, and it wouldn't be worth it for them) So I need help and advice on where would be the best place to take it to, to get a competent job done. I live on the coast of Norwich.

What's wrong with the 2ltr? If it is looked after it will probably outlast any other later engine!

If you do wish to go ahead, it isn't as big a job as a lot of people think, although you will have to do a number of mods to put the tdi lump in.

Do you have tools?

Can you weld?

Do you have somewhere to carry out the work?

I have just read in landrover mags, that the 2.5 tdi is more reliable and favoured over the 2ltr.

I have the space to do the works (inside aswel) just not the knowledge.

I have most tools, but not all. (As in no hoist to lift the block out)

I can't weld.
