Help this poor newbie

Evening all very green newbie here
well ive had my freelander 2001 3 door for 12 months now and in that time ive had the clutch done-the head gasket done plus many many other jobs then on my way home tonight bang!!!!!!!
Engine completely blew up on the 3rd lane smoke everywhere
turns out my bigend has gone and made a hole in the engine block
my ? Is how much to fit another engine? I can get 1 with not too much problem just wondered how much for fitting
i really dont want to get rid of it as being partially disabled it easier for me to get into

hiya, it depends on what engine you have, if it is a 1.8 petrol, to the best of my knoledge, its the same "k" series engine used in rover 200/400 series, or the mgf 1.8 mpi ! if it is a diesel, you will need to find out if you have an "L" series diesel or the bmw td4, personally, i would check breakers & salvage yards, as for fitting, prices vary, best to phone around a few & see who offers the best price, would have thought around £250/£350 mark, hope this helps a bit, all the best in getting it sorted, emandem
