Hi all, 1st posting here so forgive any mistakes and my lack of technical know how...
My Disco 2 (V8) suffered a dropped front prop shaft (long story but it bounced back and smashed the gearbox casing need ing a replacement box) Anyhow, got a the box rebuilt with a new core and new propshaft installed (old transfer box) and used for a few days and now have horrific vibration under any throttle but vibration eases back when cruising... took it back to the garage and got the usual...it was OK when it left here bit! Today I took it to a main dealer here in Spain and got told it needs major work, new propshaft (to replace the new one shipped over from LR UK a few weeks ago) but that it would be at least 3 weeks before they get the parts at 'ouch' cost!
Here is the rub... I am due to return to the UK by ferry this Friday at the other end of Spain...so having decided to have a look myself, I have found that it looks as though the front transfer box bearing has been knocked out (lots of side play on the acorn... So to my question (and again I apologise for my ignorance) but is it possible to run a Discovery on just the rear by removing the front propshaft or does this cause the EMS to shut the thing down
Any ideas please... all sensible ones very gratefully received!!!
Cheers
Mike
