Hi there, I'm looking at buying a Defender and am struggling with the massive range of values out there! Anyway, there's one I'm looking at and would be keen to hear what you think it might be worth..

It's an 02 TD5 90 Hardtop, converted to a SW. 120k
Exmoor trim leather seats
Very smart , proper respray
New Zu alloys, New BFGs
2" lift
Chequer plate
Stage 1 boost kit
New (recon) gearbox and new clutch.
Lots of bills

I reckon about £10,000. What say you??

I paid £9000 for a 02 TD5 CSW 70K. Exmoor Trim front seats, Boost Alloys, Cooper D STT tyres, black respray. I reckon I could have got about £1k of the price.

So your one about 7K maybe.
 
Well, at the minute there is a 2000 td5 with 45,000 miles on the clock, full service history and a good few months mot in excellent condition for sale on a certain website for £2600 so I think your valuation is way, way, way off.

I can't imagine what that one's like for £2600 - that sort of money only gets a late 80's vehicle??

That's helpful thanks. Much of a difference in value between HT and CSW (assuming the conversion is done properly i.e. proper windows, headlining, trimmed in the rear)?

Would entirely depend on the condition of the chassis and bulkhead really.
 
Personally I wouldn't assume that. That is a twelve year old landy, and they do rust.
I would get undr and give the chassis a once over with a small hammer.

Good plan. It shouldn't be too bad at that age, but worth asking about any waxoyl etc. treatments it may have had. And a tap around, just to make sure it hasn't been filled with salt water from launching a dinghy or anything. That can rot em fast.

£10k? More if it's very good? Or is that toppy?
 
10k seems a lot.

With regards to a CSW; i wouldn't pay CSW money for a conversion only for the real thing.

Still a HT no mater what they do to it. It is in the vin# and no changing that fact.

brand new exmoor trim seats, always covered.
2" lift with radius and trailing arms.
modulars with 33" cooper STT's
winch and bumper
rock sliders
all important guards
dual battery with split charge
rear draw system
etc etc

I think id be lucky to get 5K for mine now. :(

I was being generous. Thing is them Heads can let go at anytime( 10P), for that aged vehicle. Need to keep in mind replacement costs

i can count on one hand the amount of time mine has been above 2500rpm in the last 3 years.

I don't need to what with the full intercooler and remap.
