Hi All,

Sorry for keeping quiet for so long, but work's been busy.
With great hope the forum stayed the same as it was a few moons (actually suns) ago, I have following, quite urgent request:
The plod now realised my MOT lapsed (just about two years, nothing too dramatic).
The landy in question is a Series 3 200Di (1978 LWB). It needs:
a) being picked up on a hanger in Frankfurt, Germany,
b) transported to blighty,
c) chassis and firewall replaced, as well as other bits and bobs (including exhaust).

Please let contact me via PM as soon as possible if you are willing to take this on (including hourly rate and when you could get her to be picked up would help).
This request goes mainly out to the professionals on here. If you know someone, please share. Right now I am running the risk of her (Betty, the landy) being impounded if I dont take actions, and there are a lot of memories associated with the car for my son, wife and me.

Cheers,
Phil

To know what will happen to it yes. I am afraid the plod will come and collect it. Restoration can take its time,no hurries there. Pickup must be discussed, i think i can park it on private property for a short while. .... Help?.... ;)

I'm sorry that I can't help you myself, but I'm surprised that no adventurous member on here has offered. Someone with a trailer who fancies a trip to Europe with expenses paid ;) As for the restoration, can you not surf the internet for a suitable restorer in the UK yourself?

Plenty can bring it back but....everything after that is a total unknown especially with the "few bits and bobs", oh and the nice "This request goes mainly out to the professionals on here." I am a professional, just not a professional mechanic.

Hello All.
Been a while, hope you're all struggling while I'm living a life of milk and honey
I used to do these recovery/import/exports.
Problem you have is that you have to get a vehicle to Frankfurt to recover another... double the normal cost and time.
I used to fly in and drive back.
I'd say it's a two, probably 3 day job.
You're looking at £600-£800 in fuel, ferries and costs alone. If youre lucky someone will do it for £1000 minimum cash.
But there's no profit in it for anyone working or as a business proposition below £1500.
If you want I can discuss further, get contact details from Mad Hat Man.
Good luck!

You can't just come strolling in ere giving useful advice.....

No wait...

Sorry for the late reply... Work and all that...
The ballpark figure above would be ok. If there is a possibility of repair involved more so. I would be the last one to expect it to be done for free.
MHM - any chance of you getting in contact with me? Can you send me the contact details of storm?

When you say 'chassis and firewall replaced'
Do you mean new, galvanised etc.. or existing repaired as required?
Not a professional garage or anything, but I have rebuilt a few, and I may be able to help, as no one else seems to be forthcoming.
Do you not have any restoration shops over their?
Transporting it would be my issue if anything.

Just type "@storm99" and a message - or pm him

@ aaron: yep, I do mean a new, galvanised chassis.
@ MHM: thanks

Well that will make things a little better I would think. Not sure what sort of timescale you're looking at, but bare in mind if you do go down that route their will probably be a 10week lead time for a chassis, their was at least for mine (albeit a Land Rover 90 chassis) when I got it 2 months ago.
Like I said in my previous post, I may be able to help, if Storm or anyone else isn't forthcoming with wanting to do the restoration side, then send me a pm and we can discuss it further.
