LOL- the loads on the chassis when snatching (sid James cackle) are enormous if the dead load is bogged. The shackles rate at 10-12 tonnes and the recovery point/s must be that strong too.
Same goes for a winch rope - a spliced 10 mm rope is rated at about 6 tonnes, the winch stops pulling at about 5.5 tonnes. So the winch should not break a rope in good condition, and the rope will be the first thing to break. Better that than a flying bumper or shackle!!
