Does anybody knows how to fix this problem: when I turn the key on the switch to the "open" position you suppose to hear a buzzing meaning fuel is being injected for ignition. My Freelander stalled and won't start and when I turn the key it does not do the buzzing sound. Does that mean I have an electrical problem? I already checked all fuses related to the fuel, as well as the relay that is located under the hood, and even checked the red rubber safety fuel-cut-off button. Everything seems to be in place. Am I missing to check something? Thanks for your help guys! By the way, it has a 2.something gasoline v-6 engine. 2005 HSE model.

what engine is in your freelander?

I'm guessing at it being a td4. fuel pumps are quite a common failing point on them.

Oops! you are right. A 2.something gasoline v-6 engine, it is a 2005 HSE model.

2.5L .

Check the multi-plug on the bottom of the fuel cut off switch is connected properly (the button with the red rubber cover).

You might want to check that there is power at the fuel pump before buying a new one but it's sounding like it's at fault.

Might also be worth checking your crankshaft/camshaft sensors too. You will need a diagnostic check done to do this.

Thanks for your help! It was the fuel pump in deed. I managed to replace it this afternoon following instructions posted on myfreelander.co.uk, a fantastic web page I might add. I pull it apart and replace the pump unit only, ACDelco cost about $50 euros... pretty cheap huh? Thanks again for your help Ratty, you've got yourself a friend in this tropical end of the planet.
