I'm not going to be able to answer all your questions, but, i put a 109" salisbury rear axle on my 88" and I had to grind off the spring mounts and weld them on the other side of the axle.

I **think** 109" springs are different to 88" springs too, so, think you'll need new 88" springs.

hi on phone with dvla now tells me any mod on a chassis ANY cant not keep the plate they would give a age related plate
and I need to pay 55 pound for new plate
this cant be true all you out there with tax exempt cars have never had weld on chases

Yes this is 100% right.

Note the DVLA guy said any MODIFICATION. swapping like for like parts, welding patches on, etc. are not modifications. You can equally buy a brand new, galvanised chassis, built to the original spec. and use that and keep the ID.

However, if you MODIFY it in any way you loose the ID. So, change out rigger positions, convert it to take coil springs, etc. it's bye bye tax exempt status.

Thanks bump is gal chassis not. A mod as it would put value up surly
And how do the coil spung lads do it to keep tax exemption as a old range would surly need outriggers moving
