Hello - How to restart a keycode lockout

Hello Guys,
This is my first post and thought I'd post a solution rather than a problem

I was recently locked out of my P38 when I changed the batteries and fcuked it up. I then had to push the car to leave it in a safe place thus setting the alarm off and yes KEYCODE lockout. This is how I solved it.

1/ ring land rover dealer ask nicely for my cars KEYCODE

2/ Enter keycode like this (pay close attention to first step)
>Turn key to the left 4 times (i.e. 12 o clock to 9 o clock) this gets the car ready to accept key code.
>First keycode digit turn to the right (12 o clock to 3 o clock)
>Second digit to the left the appropriate number of times
>Third digit to the right
>Fourth to the left
Be very precise when turning the key between vertical and horizontal

3/ Start car

4/ Re-sync key by putting it in drivers door lock turn to lock and then press lock, turn to unlock then press unlock.

5/ Stand back smoke a pipe and admire your handy-work

I couldn't get the EKA to work until I done the 4 turns to the left step.

Thats a well known and well documented procedure, but worth bumping now and then (for later cars, you just put the key in the ignition, that syncs it.)

I guess my point is that I looked on here for the solution and none seemed to work, until I found out about the 4 turns to the left to put the car in learning mode before inputting the keycode. I would also recommend finding out your keycode and keep it with you before you have any alarm issues, be prepared and all that.

abso-bloody-lutely

The proceedure is in the owners manual that comes with your car, page 15. It's also on Rave if you don't have your manual. It's known as an EKA (Emergency Key Access) code and if you search EKA code on the search system there are loads of threads for this.
