Disco 2 Heavy steering at low speed after replacing headlight switch

Over the weekend I replaced my headlight/indicator switch after it broke while on our way home through some very dark A Roads when i went to turn on the full beams (scary stuff, all lights went out!)

In order to do this I had to remove the steering wheel, and I made sure that everything went back together as it had come apart. However, now it seems the steering is unusually heavy especially at low speeds. Does anyone know what might cause this? thanks in advance.

It might be some coincidence cos removing/refitting the steering wheel should not affect that at all... give some WD40 to the column's UJ in the engine bay

I was kind of confused about the topic of the post. It's like saying I added air to my tires now my battery is dead. lol
Like ferry stated, try spraying WD-40 on the steering UJ and also check your power steering system for fluid level and leaks.

Thanks for the replies guys I found the cause of the problem last night.

Basically when I put everything back together, the ring that goes behind the steering wheel (not sure what this is called, but it has the wires for the air bag, horn etc. coming out of it) had managed to become unseated and was being pinched. I've made sure its seated properly before putting the steering wheel back on again and its all working fine now.

I think you'll find its called a "slipring" it conducts electricity between a static and movable/rotatable point.
And thanks for the feedback on the problem.
