firstly a big thank you to landyzone, being a freelander owner of around a week, this forum and its members,Q & A's have helped me no end

we noticed the heater didn't work on 1 and 2 settings, reading on here it seemed a common problem and advice on how to fix

ordered new resistors via evil bay and they arrived today

sure enough on removing the resistors (whilst upside down in the drivers footwell)
1 and 2 had snapped/brittle

as the new pack included 1,2,3 decided to replace all with new bits

I have a slight disability in my left hand, and being left handed soldering is not my best forte, but we got there in the end

fitted back into the heater, and uricka , we have a working full set of controls, 1,2,3 and 4

I ordered mine today . When u snipped the old ones off did you soilder the new ones to the base ( or leave a little bit poking up )

once you remove the resistor get as much old off as you can clean up the base best ya can ready to solder the new resistors to it

the tabs that take the resistors are slotted, so when removing the old ones, melt solder and clean the tab up, new resistors then slot into the tabs, just remember to lay them out in order, so you put in correct place

i am going to try the Ceramic Heater Resistor Repair Pack meant to last longer than the normal resistors have to do the freelander but also the mgf so may as well get both done at the same time
