heater control levers securing stud size/thread

Mine isn't attached plus I dont have a hot/cold cable which I guess happened when the engine was changed to a V8. I'm going to put a TX1 heater control vale and cable in but want to secure the heater control levers. Any idea on the thread on these. It seems to be the same as the steering cowl stud. Tried a few old bolts I have but none fit.

M5 doesnt fit. Thread is finer.
