Heater blower not working on position 1?

Evening ladies and gents..

Anyone on here got some tips for the above problem ive got? Ever since i bought the hippo, all heater & air con functions work perfectly, however speed 1 has never worked on the fan.. 2,3 & 4 are fine tho..

Never bothered me before, but with winter fast approaching (did we have a summer) id like to get speed one going again, as im a bugger for always having the heat on low when its chilly outside...

Suggestions from all you oracles of knowledge will be greatly appreciated!!

its probably the heater resister has a burnt coil .
look under the dash just to the left of the clutch pedal and you will see it (i think theres 2 self tapper screws) holding it in the heater housing.unplug it and when you have removed it you should be able to see the burnt coil.
new resister are pretty dear from main dealer
although i have seen repair kits on ebay(i think you have to solder new coils onto the board)

Yes i agree with resistors. seem to recall buying them from maplins was an old mod , might still be in search

Not suffered this on my wife's Freelander yet but had it on other vehicles, it is caused by the resistor for the lower fan speed burning out as this is the one is usually used the most. It disipates the most power and therefore gets hottest and burns out most frequently.
I certainly wouldn't bother with a secondhand unit as that could be exactly the same or very close to failing, new resistor packs are not very expensive even as genuine parts so just buy one of those and you will be sorted for many years to come.

Go for one of these, replacement resistors seem to be good quality and last, I fitted this kit last winter and its been fine
