Hi All
Can any one help me ?
I have changed my heater control (HVAC) for the one with the heated seat buttons but noticed my original (HVAC) only had three connectors to it and the heated seat one has four, and i cannot see any more connectors from the loom to connect into the forth on the (HVAC) and when i operate the heated seat switches they light up two lights press again then one light. So does it have to have this forth plug to make the seats heat up ? And if so where would it connect and where could i get it if that is what is needed?
I have checked under the drivers seat and can see the wires going to the seat pads i separated the main plug by undoing the 8mm screw and checked the plugs inside i will add pictures of the plug under seat and the front of the replacement (HVAC).
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Ron

Hi all
Also just thought i would mention their are lights around the dials of the heated seat buttons should these light up ?
And is this because the forth plug connection is missing ?
I do have the Lynx evo for the Discovery range but unfortunately i am not 100% ok with using it yet.

Ok Ron
Sorry it may have been a misleading, but it seems Doo found the wiring harness and plugs already in the wiring loom tucked out of the way (that’s the way I read it) so you may have to dig around a bit and see what you find.

It also may help if you edit your title or original post to state the model you have. Which also may bring it to the attention of somebody with the same model.

I can say the lights on the switch of our L322 2011 light up blue or red ,similar to your pic but we don’t have numbers on our dials, depending which way you turn, also push center button and you get seat base only or base and back light up.

Persevere and you will get the answer here from somebody:)

Ok thank you marjon
I will see if i can edit my title
I did have a good look when i changed the HVAC control panel even tried to follow the loom along as far as i could with my hands and fingers as much as i could but could not see or feel any extra plugs!!
I will probably drop down the passengers glove box tomorrow see if i can see any thing there .
As you said about the lights on the dials i had a idea they should light up that's why i think it should have that missing plug connected.
Would you believe i actually work at Jaguar Landrover at Solihull but i work in the body shop department so we never see any of the interiors being fitted and unfortunately i do not know anyone in trim and final department. As i am on the sick at the moment i cant ask around.
But i was under the impression that most of the looms are the same but they just don't put the extra controls in the cheaper models i might be wrong ?
I will get it sorted hopefully in the end.

Sorry to be a pest marjon but how do i edit this post title just cant see how to do it?

Hi chaps, in my case, my car had all the gear but no idea :D

I am simply assuming that my HEVAC had been swapped for a low spec unit somewhere along the line because my BECM is high line so was already programmed to run the extra bits.

Anyway, I wonder if perhaps your seats are the same as mine were. I plugged in, switched on and although the lights lit up , no heat happened. I had to strip them and repair the snapped sections of the heater element. Once that was done I was away.

Here's the burned element

All fixed

That would be my 1st port of call is to check the elements under the seat covers.

Yes Ron might get more attention:)
@Doo thanks was just trying to point Ron in some sort of direction. As in the plugs could well be there hidden somewhere.

Hi Doo
Was that just for the one seat ? if it was does that stop them all from working ?
And looking at your repair did you just strip back the outer casing then solder together the inner element then cover with a plastic sleeve ?

Hi Ron, yes both seats are usually broken in the same area (design flaw) where the element is stressed and it snaps. I've only fixed the drivers seat so far, but will get around to the passenger side.

I had to strip the seat right back to get to the element.

It wasn't hilarious, but it wasn't a horrendous job.

Hi

Is urs a base model D3 please, as that one loom is missing you’ve got to make one up that goes from ur hvac unit and down to the seat , plus I doubt the heated squab will be fitted

Or buy a second hand loom and take out the wires u need

If i may also say, it’s important to disconnect ur battery and wait 30 x mins before disconnecting the that connector under the seat because ur air bag system is in there

Sorry to be doom and gloom , hope that helps a little bit

Ps, they change the dashboard looms between models, ie like trying to retrofit a satnav into a base model reqs a lot of work

That was going to be my next question, is it wired for it or not. But since the light goes on & off, it's entirely possible the heating element has gone.

I will first try to locate the missing plug on the back of the HVAC first before i go ahead with stripping off the seat covers.

Hi mate

One of the loom connectors that plugs into the back is power to the hvac unit, so indeed the lights will come on, but , there is no loom that goes from the hvac unit to the seat and that extra lead will have to be made up

I did retrofit electric front seats in mine and looked into heated seats but didn’t bother because of the extra wiring

Hi gstuart
Thank you for your input, Yes it is a base D3 but i understand what you say. here is a picture from under the drivers seat and as you can see there are four plugs and four wires going into the seat. So i would think that two go to the air bags and the other two are for the heated seats .
And i know about disconnecting the battery when i separated the plug i had the battery disconnected over night for some other work to be carried out albeit that was more luck than knowledge please tell me what you think when you look at this picture your input is very much appreciated.
