The recent cold spell has been the first time I have had an opportunity to test the performance of the heated front screen facility. Started the car this morning which had a good layer of frost on the front and rear screens, the rear screen defrosted fine but the front screen only defrosted in small bands across the drivers side and not at all on the passenger sides. Can I assume that there is failure on the screen elements (car under warranty until Oct.2016). Can anyone give their comments.

Sounds broken, should at least clear the middle 60% of the screen, small bit at sides not cleared in general. Check the connections under the scuttle panel or have the garage do it under warranty

I think the elements run from top to bottom on the front screen and there are two 'zones' drivers side and passenger side ...

I'm not sure if there was an option for only one side to be operative or not ...

but if it is under warranty get it checked out ...

don't know if it would be worth asking someone like Autoglass or similar ...

Thanks for your responses. I have since discovered the dual zone construction of the window and sure enough the passenger side fuse (F34) was blown. I have had to order a new fuse online since they are of a special design (JCASE low profile) so I do not yet know whether its just a random fuse blow or whether there is a short on the passenger side wiring. If it is a wiring fault in the windscreen I know I am going to have an uphill battle with the warranty since damaged windscreens aren't covered as they are normally covered in the windscreen cover of the car insurance.
