Hi All
well the weather was good enough to let me remove my Headliner it was falling apart and dropping all over, I had found the rear sun roof seal was not in correctly and leaking, and the front sun roof was no even sealing on the roof as I could move it, and it never fully worked as I could never slide the glass back,

so out it came

I then removed the front sun roof and when I checked out the mechanism , I found the guide on the slider arm had broken, it a 5mm thick plastic pieces, with a 6 mm hole I made one out of an old bit of plastic, it worked fine the as I was about to put it back I noticed the drip tray drain point has an opening so I cut a couple more pieces of plastic and stuck the in place

I replace the drip tray and seal the whole tray to the inside of the roof, I then removed the rear drip tray and did the same, and blow out the rubber pipes before replacing them and securing with a plastic tie, the a hose pip on the roof to see if I had any leaks, and checked any water was coming out of the 4 drains all good so nex the headliner

not to bad, for a first attempt, I cut all the big opening with a single sided razor blade and all the small holes with a round point hot soldering iron,

OK its not perfect but its 1000% better than it was, I only lost 1 screw which I replaced from, the only other problem was the last Items I put in was the sun visor clips, I has missed the holes so burned the out carefully , the pushe the clip in, all good so far, then disaster, I had replaced the driver tip, for a new one not noticing it was alot shorter the the original one I was using so in do this as I pushed to tighten the screw in the clips the I broke both of them .....

new ones ordered from Rimmer....Ill just need a long screw driver to fit them this time..

next job replace the rear ACE, mount and dust cover

Hi they are not that difficult to do, but not a lot of room for soundproofing best to go with a black material with thicker foam

That looks great, well done. It's a job I've got to do on my project I picked up recently. The rear sunroof works fine & doesn't leak but the front motor doesn't work & you can't turn it manually with an allen key it seems to have a a minor leak above the front roof bar mounting. Did you check/re-seal those whilst you were there ?

Mine all seems to be water tight but falls by down at the rear and front sunroof, think I’ll do mine in black as it willl contrast against pale trim but suit black seats. Which supplier did you get your fabric from?

the big problem is the foam backing just turns to dust, so it need to come out to clean it off, then repaint or re upholster with new foam backed material, look I had never done one before and mine came out OK
and I did it all on my own and I'm 69.5 years young, it just a case of watching the online videos, take the tips and practice the layout on the headliner before applying any glue, take your time dont rush

And use only good quality glue. I have done mine two times as first time the new headlining dropped off due to the quality of the glue (after about half a year),

Make sure it's HIGH TEMPERATURE glue. The reason why some glues fail isn't down to the quality, it's because they can't withstand the heat from the sun baking down onto the roof.

yes contact hi temp glue

i watched these video before I did mine and they were a big help

There used to be a 'how to' video on the Martrim website. I remember watching it to see how they held up the glued material before laying it down onto the glued headlining, and just as they got to THAT point, they finished the video...
I never got around to replacing my headlining, but i was going to use broom handles laid across the headliner to hold the material away and support it while pressing the two glued parts together.

You've made a tidy job of it!
