Hi I’m new to landrovers and I’m having a problem with it already it’s a discovery 3 2009 2.7v6 it keeps coming up with hdc fault suspension lowered I have put a new battery on and it’s still doing it has anyone got any ideas also it comes up with front parking aid inactive could there be a link to them both?

really need diagnostics plugged in , also whats the standing voltage of ur new battery please and did u charge it before fitting it

also not wishing to teach u how to suck eggs but the HDC button isn’t on and the terrain response is off

Ps, also as a side note , have u checked that the belts and oil pump have been replaced
 
Yeah you need to get the codes read with these things. The HDC fault, suspension lowered etc is the standard 'limp mode' and can mean any number of things.

The belts and oil pump was all ment to be changed before I got it. Have just ordered a diagnostic so hopefully can get it sorted

Hdc button? Terrain response? Sorry I’m all new to this and don’t want to take it to a garage and get charged so much and it could be a small thing that I can fix it myself

The Terrain Response, suspension, transfer box range selector and HDC controls look like this.

yes that’s fine, just would have hated it it was something simple as a switch turned on and being charged

indeed ref the belts and oil pump, just mentioned it as they can cause catastrophic failure if they’ve not been replaced

3) are u able to check what the Vdc of the battery is with the engine off plse

Yes the battery was charged before I fitted it. The make of the code reader is iCarsoft LR V1.0 Land Rover & Jaguar Multi System Diagnostic Reset Tool Engine ABS Airbags & Oil Reset. No I haven’t got anything to check that with.

Brilliant and that’s not a bad code reader , will have the feature so u can test the battery , only reason is the D3 can and does throw a tantrum if the battery is low and cause all sorts of issues

once u get the code reader , do a scan note the fault codes, clear them then rescan again to see what comes back

Ok thank you it should be arriving tomorrow or Saturday so will get it on and send the codes on here I will put the codes up before I clear them as don’t want to clear and there being something I really need to change or will that be the codes that will come back up?

ref the codes , some of them may be old ones that don’t relate to what u have now, so indeed best to scan them first , write all of them down, clear and then rescan as that will then show the current fault codes

but I’ve always written down old codes just in case, sometimes there’s pages of them as they’ve built up over the years and not been cleared

Indeed, Plse let us know what u find and plenty of us here to help u all we can , these are complicated beasts so sometimes it’s not always straight forward

plus may i ask how handy are u with a spanner etc , do u do ur own work plse , please don’t ever think where trying to be disrespectful just guiding u according to ur experience

Haha so I have noticed. I’m kinda ok with small things but my partner is a mechanic so if I can find out what is wrong with it and get what it needs he does all the hard work we just had to change the air compressor as it randomly just stopped working no life left in it new drive shaft as old one snapped and a few other things not had it a year yet and not having to much luck with it

Lol, just never like to come across trying to teach someone how to suck eggs

that’s handy then if ur other half is a mechanic , alas ur find with these that if they’ve been bodged or neglected by previous owners it does take some time and effort to get them back up in full working order

Plse don’t ask me how I know, lol

Everyone was telling me that there more hassle than other cars but I need it for the space and all seats and it’s handy with the 4x4 as it’s all hills where we live
