Hi all

I just wondered if anyone has dealt with Gristhill 4x4 in Surrey. My poor Landy was written off a week ago :)() and am considering replacing it with one of theirs.

If anyone has any had any dealings (good or bad) I would love to hear about it. They seem to know what they are talking about and nice enough etc, but in my limited experience anyone who is trying to sell you a car does.

Cheers - and thanks in advance for any advice

Don't go near them!

Thanks for the heads up Keith - but any more info would be good.

I am looking at a 110 they have imported from Ireland. seems like a good price, with reasnoble miles and comes with 1 years warrenty. Checks out in the background checks I have done (all be it missing a years Irish MOT).
Would really appreciate your input

I don't want to make defamatory remarks about them, but I will say this. I went to Gristhill and drove two or three of their cars and talked to the salesman. I also witnessed conversations between the salesman and a previous customer.

On the basis of that visit, would I deal with Gristhill or recommend them to others? No.

I think it's a general point when buying cars, and this has no specific relevance to Gristhill, that you should make a careful inspection and test drive of a vehicle before parting with any money. That might seem like common sense, but it's easy to assume that a nice-looking freshly-painted car with new trim, seats, and so forth, is in good mechanical condition when it may not be. I think some sellers rely on that to get inflated prices for vehicles which actually are in poor condition and likely to need potentially expensive repairs. There's nothing illegal about that - after all, it's the buyer's responsibility to know what he's buying - but if you don't have much buying experience, it would be easy to be misled by such practices.
