We took part in the world record,does anyone know why only 640 vehicles were counted for the record when apparently around 900 took part?we were #564

gaps were not consistent between vehicles.

The criteria was 4mph and no more than one car's gap between the vehicle in front.
My mate was 781 and I was 782. When we got to the start he took off like a scalded cat and I took after him in low fifth, FLAT OUT in low fifth in my Disco 1. I don't know what speed that was as the dust cloud was so thick I could only see about five yards in front of me!
I said to my passenger that I reckoned we'd all blown it!
I can't work out how the gap became so big. We were flat out for over a mile before we caught up with the rest of the cars...

Still, it was nice to take part and we beat the Germans, which in my mind was all that counts

We only saw five or six cars parked up as we raced around the course, but a couple of those were marshal's cars. So not many I don't think

2 that I know of, one was a khan lookalike. At approx number 27. Other on e was later.
