At just over 2k n the Rev Counter when accelerating my 2001 Auto groans and or vibrates. CAn't feel it anywhere in particular like through pedals. It loud too....its ONLY there at between 2k -2.2k revs though and when driving straight or turning.

Any ideas? Engine mountings maybe?

Engine and Gearbox oils changed recently.

I had vibration between about 2500-3000. In my case it was the hand brake asm. Since renewed no vib:)
Just to test, while driving grab your hand brake lever or very carefully pull up (just a few mm to put some tension on it) and see.

Although 'ASM'? Assembly?

Yes, assembly. It is hard to identify which part is causing vibration within the drum brake, can be a single spring, washer or shoe.
I have changed all springs, washers, shoes and cable. Balancing the drum also could be a good idea.
when I did mine I found somewhere a LR technical service bulletin which describes what and how to be done. If this will be your issue you would better to search for it as well (If I find it I will send you a link).

Thanks man.. I found the service bulletin. I'll put it up here next time I am at my laptop. Did you say you could emulate the vibration by pulling the brake a little?

In my case this is the way how I identified it. I was looking every single piece of the car before to find where the hell it vibrates and once a friend came with me and asked him to listen where the vib could come. He said that he thinks it comes from somewhere between the seats. After I started to touch, grab everything there and when grabbed the hand brake lever and very slightly pulled the vibration were gone (in my case).

Cheers, mine is like driving from smooth tarmac to rough but just for a couple of seconds.....then once past around 2k it smooths out again. Sound familiar?

the vibration in my case was quite constant and between 2500-3000rpm. But I guess there are not exactly same symptoms as all issues can be different as the possible reasons (like brake parts or other possible suspect parts) surely slightly different.

Unfortunately it's not the brake. I'm starting to think engine mounts. I'll have a look at them tomorrow and order some genuine LR ones if they look dodgy.

What else would cause that short vibration? It's only when driving and can't be emulated when stationary. Only at 2k revs. Only when accelerating. Cruises fine under and over 2k.

I would say sounds like torque converter, similair problem happens on the d3.

I started to get some vibration on mine around the 2,000 rpm region, I put a new rubber doughnut on the back axle (old one was showing signs of ageing) while changing the oil seal and I also took the opportunity to get a heavy duty front prop shaft with grease points on the cardan joint.
Vibration hasn't appeared since.
