So I'm thinking about tarting up the front grille - it's looking rather tired after a few years of sun and rain.

I do not want to bodge the wrong grille on and end up with an ugly front end I'm thinking more along the lines of removing and painting?

any sugestions welcome I was thinking plasticote in dark silver?

If you wanna keep it original go with forever black, good stuff, did mine over a year ago still looks brand new , if you search on here there's a thread somewhere showing the difference

Go to your nearest sandblaster, it will give you a good key if done at low pressure. And plastic has a special kind of paint that has some elasticity in it better than normal wont peel after time.

I recently tried some back to black stuff and all it really did was turn the grille dark grey. I have used plasticoat on previous vehicles (IIRC, it was matt black for metal, wood and plastic stuff) and it lasted the length of the time I owned the vehicle.

defender300td1, hi mate, you have the same colour bodywork as mine, is your grille colour the same as the bodywork or if it was have you changed it? I can't see from the profile pic. Need to do mine, at the moment it's the same as the bodywork but just wondering if it would suit something different.

I have also seen them drilled with holes to give the 'sport' look in dark silver, looks quite good without being chav if done carefully.

My grill was original black it's faded now I haven't sprayed mine just left it , the silver one,s with holes are upgrade to look like the new rr here is a pic for you ,my old orange defender is the one I have painted the reference was to the plastic wheel arches that I wanted colour coded to match the truck. And a pic of truck sand blasted.
