A short one to anyone new and old, who might be thinking that Green Laning is also 'off-roading'.
It isn't.
Simply put Green laning is done on proper roads that are in disrepair or ancient lanes, Byways, Un-classified roads etc, and needs a licensed driver, and fully road-legal vehicle with MOT, Insurance and V5.
Off-roading is driving off a road, obviously, but is usually done on private land with the landowners permission. The easiest way to go off-roading is often at a Pay 'n Play site where any vehicle, licensed and road legal or not may be allowed to drive round!
Be aware that all the Green Laning associations out there do not condone illegal off-roading, driving a vehicle where you're not entitled to, and will help the authorities find people responsible for the bad press we 4x4 drivers often get.
An example of which is West Yorkshire rep Alex Davidson who has the local paper using the correct terminology ..
