Right chaps- all those of you stopping at Beasty's field on Friday night - what time are people aiming to get there ? Got children to tie to a metal pole in the garden and give a supply of biscuits and crisps for the weekend - just need to know how many packets to leave them :D

Plus I'm going to need to be able to ring someone, when I get down there and find I'm completely lost, searching for a field amongst other fields

Hoping to leave a bit earlier but thanks anyway.

Right trying to work out both directions to the field and also how long it'll take.

Beasty sent map but need a postcode to somewhere near so I can tap it into the phone - help please

try this-Royal Oak Inn
Moor Lane, Yeovil, Hardington Moor, Yeovil, Somerset BA22 9NW,

its about a mile away from beasty's field- close enough?

we're going down on friday and hoping to get there before dark, we could meet you somewhere on the way if you like? just been looking on google earth and west coker seems to be the way in from the A30

From the west on the A30 turn off just before East Chinnock or West Coker. From the east turn off on the East Coker road in Yeovil :)

according to map - its 3 and a half hours to get down there - down the M5 then down to Taunton then onto the A30 and onto the field .

Hopefully aim to leave about 3pm - would I get clobbered by traffic at Bristol at rush hour if I leave then ?

Probably but the M5 at Bristol doesn't usually get too backed up, I'll check it out for road works and stuff on Sunday

Bristol is a bastard lately, major roadworks on M4/M5 intersection causing big delays down to Cribbs Causeway at peak times.
If you take M4 west towards Wales and then turn onto M49 just before Second Severn Crossing you'll come out on the M5 just north of Gordano Services.
If it's REALLY bad come off at Gloucester and run down through Lydney to Chepstow, come back across the old Severn Bridge (free) then take A403 through Avonmouth and rejoin M5 as above.....simples! :D

Or i could just stick to one road...leave earlier, take a good audio book and take twice as long to get there but actually get there eventually rather than trying to be creative.

BB took me almost to the road i needed to get on , the day of the ladies laning trip adter my repair detour. Pikey had talked me through the route, even given me a map. All i had to do was go on two roads and come off one junct later on motorway.

Somehow miscalculated , got on motorway at junct i should have got off, carried on for three more juncts before i realised numbers were going wrong way so had to turn round
, added extra 40 mins to journey.

one road....even with traffic, sounds good :)
