I had a Trakker fitted to my car when they first came out. My Car was stolen and Trakker were told straight away. 5 days later they found it in the police recovery yard where it had sat for 4 days.

Can you get one with a built in thermostat just in case they torch it,
the SIM could auto dial the fire service

Would also be beneficial to Freelander owners

I think you can access the tracking system straight away in your home with Ryders system depending on how far you go with it also it can send you an SMS if it is being moved outside set parameters like 3am and can cause the engine to misfire and disable itself if you send an SMS backl saying you are not driving it. Many possabilities I have seen Ryders engine immobalise itself when he sent it an SMS.

It is most definatly not a cheap Chinese "tracking system" it works its taken alot of abuse offroad bounced about alot and has worked faultlessly I really can't find fault with it.

Thanks for the support Jai,

Has to be said that some of the comments are valid though... it is true that when faced with a GSM Jammer; a GSM based tracking system will not transmit the information back to the server... however it will still track and record the data onboard for later access.

It really is a case of horses for courses.

If you carry 10m quids worth of freight as one of my clients does... a system that does all the things that mine can do is not only worth the money; it is a security specification that will be insisted upon by the shipper -

However I do want to be careful here. If you want to talk about the relative value of tracking systems then we should not restrict ourselves to analysing mine alone.

Perhaps it would be more useful to look at those available for peanuts and locate/discuss the weaknesses of those. It may be that together we can make the observations that I can build on for my next project!

Joking aside... Yes.

Though with a freelander I would be more inclined to let it light the fuse!

It does have a specific input for temperature as well as the sensitivity to measure the temperature of the unit to within 1/10 degree

Been looking at the trackers advertised cheaply on Fleabay... particularly the ones mentioned in earlier posts.

Won't go through the differences in service levels, though I was concerned to see questions from people who already owned one and couldn't get it to work reliably!

Just that when you add the import duty and VAT the prices start to rise dramatically. The seller also states that he is trying to avoid import duties by shipping under a false declaration of value, or in some cases by labelling it as a gift. This does leave the buyer in a somewhat vulnerable position don't you think?

I actually made a point of offering someone else on this forum the tracker they wanted at the price they said they wanted to pay with no subscription for three years -

They suddenly changed their tune and decided not to go to such lengths to proterct their vehicle. ALSO - as a safety device when my daughter is out in the car... priceless.

note to self-- don't take his daughter out in her car!!!! and don't leave your car in his possesion!!!

i bet her BF is a nervous wreck!!!:doh::doh::doh::doh:

seriously tho, it is a worthwhile product for someone who has a car thats worth the outlay. if i had a new RR i would certainly invest in one but owning a p38 means your lucky if it starts when your the owner so a thief will be very lucky, and if he does get away with it i'd ask him to get me a lotto ticket!!!

i do remember reading someone had put a tracking system in his car along with a carpc, he could track the car in real time on a map and disable it if he wished!

dunno what he used but it looked handy.

Ha ha... Gav you do have a unique view of things :D

Can do the thing with te carPC much more easily using a bluetooth GPS antenna and a copy of multi map. Not sure why he would disable the car while he was driving it though...
