As you might've seen I had a CV malfunction in Brighton on Monday. I'm guessing it was because the steering lock adjusting bolts have been wound right out to give it a tighter turning circle and that has over stressed the CV joint.
Anyway, I was stuck in Brighton not knowing any Landy specialists. Completely shattered CV joint (photos to follow when I be arsed) which resulted in not being able to steer left and a bend track rod.
A mate who's a mechanic found Ben. I got recovered to his garage and he got to work at five in the afternoon. He dismantled both hubs, the N/S one was fine bit the O/S had completely smashed. He spent his evening dismantling it, started at the crack of sparrows the next day to dismantle another axle to salvage the parts and put mine back together.
He ran into numerable problems along the way, persevered and got the job done. It wasn't cheap but he did a cracking job getting the best bits from what was available to him. He also threw in a pair of genuine, new (but a bit rusty) discs as mine were warped, chipped and nearly worn out), another CV in case the N/S one fails, a pair of callipers as one of mine has locked solid, and a few other bits.
A great chap, who went well beyond the call of duty and worked through to get me back on the road so I could get back to work.
He should be on here soon, I told him what to expect! He's also got some interesting spares available so watch out...
If you need any spares or repairs in Brighton give him a try on:
