it is the front recovery strap, for towing if we get stuck. we are in the habbit of attaching it at the start of the day so when it is needed it is allready inplace.
Good thinking, this is a pre winch idea 💪😎
Have you got a winch planned for the tank then?

a winch probably in the future but that's a few steps away yet, 1st shorten the rear to improve exit angle.2nd possibly shorten the front by relocating radiator etc into the rear to make tyres basically the front and rear most points.
probably increase the suspension height 20mm in order to improve breakover

there a other things in mind perspex windows on the sides and rear. some light bars, other bits and bobs.

When you lift it keep an eye on the drive shaft angles, you could put extra strain on the Cv joints.
And sort that clicking noise from underneath 🤭 sounds like prop Cv joint🤪

it will only be a small lift done in software .

we think the clicking is the center diff locking up

I'd like to do this with a p38. Less parts and just as capable off road I found as standard. Keep us posted with your progress on and off the tracks. Interesting stuff 😎👍
we looked at P38s but decided on the L322 as as far as we can tell noone in thr UK has done this before but we have heared of bobtailed P38s.
also we are much more familiure with the L322 bots its mechanics and electrics.

Ive a d3 I picked up for little money, it would make a good project car I reckon. Reduced body, plastics and so on.
I have seen a bobbed version of 38'. Not as good as looking as the RRC but interesting all the same. 😎
