I would sooner have our forces swear allegiance to the queen rather than to some jumped up useless politician which is all we ever seem to get.

and would you trust them to run the Crown Estates and pay the taxes on the profits?
They would probably have been sold to the Chinese by now ...
Crown Estates tax revenues going into the coffers far, far exceeds what the royals are paid out.

Just a bit of info for you, the crown estates are owned by the government on behalf of the people. NOT by the queen. She just gets spending money off the government. The only thing she owns is Balmoral.

Actually held 'in right of the crown' ie. whoever is monarch. Not personally owned, but certainly not owned (or run) by the government. Being a monarchy has maintained the difference between 'state' and 'government'. The government via HMRC collects the taxes on the profits. It doesn't get the profits. There's some interesting reading on the Crown Estates website...

The crown estates were signed over to the people by one of her ancestors in exchange for a stipend to be paid every year. So she gets a portion of the profits, 35 million at the moment, the rest goes into the exchequer for the government to spend..

That's the way it is unfortunately Lizzie is just a figure head she has no real say in anything. A bit like the population if yesterdays vote is considered.
