Hi all,

I am a newbie here. Recently I got a S2A but found the 3rd gear jumped out when deceleration. Before directly strip the gearbox, I decide to do small works first, to change the springs with a reverse spring 56102, my idea is to use it for all three.

I bought springs from Paddocks and a pack from Bearmach came, unfortunately they don't fit, even I tried my best to push in and I can feel it scratched the sidewall. I have measured the diameter of my old and Bearmach's.

The one the S2A, about 9.25mm:

Bearmach's about 9.65mm:

I don't know if any shares this experience, maybe there is any tips for this installation??

Poor pattern parts, wrong spring?
We had same problem, new spring did not fix it. Just rest your hand on the gear stick so it stays in gear, that's what we did for many years.
Thanks for your input, since I had taken out the gearbox tunnel, I decided to improvise with extra washers to give preload.

I have written to Paddocks :-( It's my first time buying stuff from them, before I have heard negative feedback here, now I finally experience it....

In 10 years I have never had a problem with Paddocks, quite the opposite actually. I have had the odd part which has been no good or wrong and they sorted it without a problem. You can't really blame them if a part is incorrectly made, I had an issue with the rear end door seal which they refunded without question and didn't want the faulty one returned.

Bearmach, Allmakes, Terrafirma, all utter crapola, all the same people.... plenty of stuff onhere about how bad they are....
Paddocks just the seller, they ok.
For stuff like that IMO Gen LR is the only safe option....

I as part of an order 2 rear shocks from Paddocks they sent me fronts...phoned them and they sent correct ones and said keep rears and that was post Brexit to Portugal no charge and within a week...

They pigged me off enough to cancel my account. Just got sick of ordering what looked like decent gear and receiving britpart crap, direct from britpart. They don’t even get to see half of what they sell never mind actually stock it. They just order it from their supplier and it’s sent direct to you.
Might just be me but if I’m paying through the nose for a part, their mark up should include a modicum of quality control. We ain’t in China. Yet.

Lots of companies do that. I think by now if the manufacturer or supplier isn't listed then you are most likely get a part supplied by Britpart, what other choice is there?
I have never paid through the nose for a part from Paddocks. Their prices seem as good or better than most, otherwise I buy elsewhere.

Your paying a middleman, skimming off a profit with little input or interest in what you get delivered. That to me is paying through the nose.

Call me old fashioned but a retailer should make sure the part is at least in visually good condition and packaged appropriately for its treasured customers assurance.

It’s probably just me.

My son bought a compressor from Paddocks, it was a Matt Savage listed item, but cheaper than buying direct from Matt Savage.
It came direct from Matt Savage, so Matt gets a sale and Paddock gets a upsale.
Personally I would much prefer to go into a shop and see what I buy but I guess that is pretty much a thing of the past.
