Aye Gatesgarth pass is only suitable for short wheelbase vehicles (100" plus are impassable at the farm). Standard defenders are OK, freelanders are most certainly not. Also you have to have a specific permit for it, which is only once a month, and all journeys are North South (from the car park to the farm)
Be careful for idiot drivers at the start of the lane at the carpark, all tourists in august and a pain in the arse.

I'm now taking the Disco. Was originally going as gate bitch, just so I could go as we're up in Hawes anyway for a fortnights holiday, but one of the group drivers dropped out so I'm taking his place.
I tried to sound suitably upset for him, but couldn't help feeling pretty pleased!
