Hi to my fellow L322 owners! (hope this is posted in the right place)

I bought an ID tool from GAP via Canada and the 56 quid on top in taxes! (my Mrs doesn't know.....!)

Does anyone have any tips on use please? Routine things I should be doing perhaps? I currently have the Reservoir static (suspension inactive) errors that just won't go away, despite changing the compressor, relay, EAS ECU and valve block!

I am 7 months into a 'love and hate' membership of the 2005 4.4 V8 SE LPG L322 Club, and was after some tips on use of this great tool as I am not a mechanic in any way!

A few screen shots of what you are looking/ trying to describe might help.
Do you have any faults showing in any ecu?

Hi J, thanks for your kind reply and I'm also Ex Army....

Fault is displayed as:
EAS Suspension
0x74 Reservoir pressure static when filling (this is the ECU fault from my GAP ID tool).

All the dash lights are on and it maintains height, but won't do anything via the switches! As it's 'suspension inactive' on the dash.
Even the local RR indy garage was stumped and after 4 days, he said get the EAS ECU swapped as that's the problem!

First I am not the ex-army part of our name or got any of them Medals:) I am the oilfield trash part:eek: but no worries.

Have you tried to reset it? But sounds like it is recognising the compressor is running but not increasing pressure.

I don’t have my laptop at the moment but will see if I can find that code, Although I don’t recognise it. Are you searching for fault codes? They normally come as “P,C,& U”
@gstuart has a D3 but many of the systems are the same as are codes, so he may help.

Don’t jump and start replacing stuff for the sake of it. Guys here can work through it .

got any screen shots of the EAS ecu faults showing?

Thanks for the tips, my mechanic mate Mark has done all the work for me so far, then the RR indy took over and couldn't help really! . I bought the ID tool to start helping myself, hence the post.
Will see if I can upload the screen shot...;)

Sounds like your compressor is not 100% or you have an air leak in the system, I have a gap unit and have found it very useful
 
I'm not sure the IID does everything but it's above my pay grade. Perhaps @holidaychicken @Henry_b , @kds and a few others might be able to help. Can't for the life of me remember who the diagnostics wizard is, but @Saint.V8 is a wizard of many skills

As for ex-Army there are loads on here. :) Obviously gluttons for punishment
Sorry @gold rover cant help with this one, all I could say is there is a lot of info on the gap tool over on that other forum.

indeed have one for my D3 and to be honest that’s the only code reader I know

scroll down to functionality drop down menu, it will then show u the sub sections of what’s available on it landy

On mine the iid is a very extensive diagnostics that will do virtually the same what JLR has,

I’ll have a look and see what menus u have in ur rangy , first I would ensure the pressures are cores that in live values , I’ll find the chart for u
 
So just checked , wow , just wow, it hardly does anything for the 2005 Range Rover, however 2006 it looks like the systems were changed and does virtually the same as mine

it was more the code that got me as I haven’t seen 1 like that of the OP. Which was the reason for asking for screen shot.

Personally think at the moment it’s compressor.

good to hear all is well

see the OP has replaced the , “ compressor, relay, EAS ECU and valve block“

to me , I would be checking the reservoir air tank to ensure it’s not leaking , on mine if the EAS Ecu doesn’t see a pressure change when filling it sends a message back to the Ecu, stops power going to the compressor and will then send an orange light to the dashboard

the Ecu, looks for certain Vdc when it sends a command

am just going to look for the wiring diagram which I’ll think will also help us see how it’s wired, ic what fuses are in the system , plus on mine u can deactivate the EAS via the gap iid to work on it then turn it back on
 
This is what the gap iid does for the 2005 Range Rover , but indeed 2006 does virtually the same as mine

Just wondering if the Ecu needs re coding , ie the suspension needs calibration to tell the Ecu what the heights are etc
 
Reservoir static sounds to me like there is either no pressure getting to the tank or the pressure sender isn't reading.
I have gap on my 2005 and it seems to do plenty.
I think it depends what engine you have as 2005 was the year they changed from BMW to jag engine
