Icarsoft has one advantage. Small and keep in glove box for roadside failures.

However, it only reads the engine ECU despite calls and emails to icarsoft. Tech support is rubbish. Mine shows my gearbox input shaft rotating at 16,500 RPM !! Car on idle.

PScan is the one to have to do all ECUs, as stated and the logging feature is great for intermittant faults. It does everything, except actuating the CANbus controlled items. That is on the to do list apparently!

there is a Raspberry Pi version. You can get small touch screens. Furious Driving make one and did a youtube video about it. Last time I checked it worked on an old Asus eeepc as well. I did get Linux running on a pretty cheap prototype RK3566 8" tablet but then the PineTab2 came out so I didn't bother with it anymore, but that's a whole other story and a year of my life that feels a bit wasted.

Petrol 1.8 motor cut out when hot? Mine did that a few years ago. I initially suspected an ignition problem so replaced the plug leads, distributor cap and rotor. Problem was still there. It turned out to be a fuelling problem - the filter on the fuel pump was clogged. I put a new fuel pump and filter in > Prob' solved.

Mine did a thing a few days ago that freaked me out.
It started this thing that it would crank and fire but would only fire for half a second or so and then die.
I put it on jump leads and then it ran but it's been in the back of my mind ever since.
Why would a car crank and fire but then not have enough battery power to keep going once already started?
But, of course, the fuel pump is powered from battery voltage so if the voltage is a little low then the fuel pump will have less voltage and then maybe it was dying due to fuel starvation. So just enough fuel in the system to fire but not enough to keep running.
You may have just explained my problem.
